13th DOOR HAUNTED HOUSE by Debi Barbich
Once again the 13th Door lives up to its legendary reputation as being the scariest haunted house I have ever been too. From the very beginning elevator ride to where you come face to face with Andrew Barrington (the killer) it is a roller coast ride of emotions. There are several new scares here that I haven't seen anywhere else. The room with the Mirror is one of the best, not to be outdone by the Doll Room (scary, creepy and alive!) The actors are some of the best I have seen. Everyone stays in character with makeup and costumes that are highly detailed and fit the mood of the early 19th century. Windows move, doors fly open, characters come from out of nowhere. It is an assault to your senses. Music and details make it a fun filled adventure. I know why this haunted house was voted one of America's Top Haunted Attractions. Can't wait to see what they do nex tyear.
THE BUTCHER HAUNTED HOUSE - by Carole Atkins
I enjoy going to the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield each year and seeing THE BUTCHER HAUNTED HOUSE. The haunted house is set out in the field with a background of large trees and corn fields around it. This makes it just scary walking up to the front door. Once you walk inside you are told the story of Edwin Pritchard who is a Butcher. It is kind of a family thing only Edwin took it to another level. He likes to also chop up people. As you enter Edwins world you see his latest kills and suddenly realize that Edwin has chosen you to be his next victim. He starts stalking you and your group and you can never be sure if the person you just spoke with is Edwin in disguise or someone trying to escape his grasp. This haunted house is exciting, scary and well thought out. A great haunt for any DEXTER fan.
THE 25TH HOUR HAUNTED HOUSE - by Kevin Atkins
Zombies and the Undead! You have to love them. New this year, the 25th Hour Haunted House, offers up the story of Roxanna whose father is an explorer. Turns out he brought her back a necklace from one of his most recent expeditions only it turns out it is cursed and has now started turning everyone into Zombies. The curse can't be broken until the necklace is returned (which is the task we were given). Find the necklace and break the curse or become one of the undead. Great story line, well acted, several new effects I haven't seen at another other haunted house. Twists, turns and Zombies. It just doesn't get better than this!
Reinke Bros HAUNTED MANSION - by Wayne Barbich
Once again one of my favorite haunted houses. Each year they change just enough of the haunt to completely disorient me. Having this haunted house housed inside the Reinke Brothers Halloween Store creates the perfect atmosphere for being scared. The stores is filled with props, costumes, makeup from the ceiling to the floor. It's a wonderland of Halloween. Now add the Haunted Mansion to that mix and you the perfect formula for a great evening out. Once you enter the Haunted Mansion you realize that you are in for something different. The attention to detail is amazing and you find yourself getting lost in the eye-candy only to be brought back to reality by a well placed scare or actor. Room upon room of detail, walls that move and fall, actors coming out at you when you least expect it. Great Haunted House!
CITY OF THE DEAD - by Joyce Thompson
This is the first year for this haunted house and from what I saw I hope it won't be the last. As you enter, you feel as if you are really entering a for real City. There are cars, tall buildings and Zombies.First off, you are judged and sentenced to live or (if the Zombies have their way) die in the City of the Dead and those who already live in the City are more than happy to welcome you. as a snack that is. Once in the city, you visit several shops and stores where the owners are friendly and offer excellent service - if you are dead. The attention to detail in the city and costumes is unbelievable. Everyone and I mean everyone stays in character and they don't let you forget that you are in THEIR city! Our group loved this haunted house and would highly recommend it.
CURSE OF SLAUGHTERHOUSE GULCH - by Romer Wilson
I love Horror Movies and characters, so this haunted house was my first choice to go to this year. I am happy to say that I wasn't disappointed. All the greats can be found here. Michael Myers, Hanniba. Jason and Leatherface, of course. My Bloody Valentine (cave and all), plus Sweeny Todd, the electric chair Shocker scene, The Ring and watch out for th Swamp Monster! This is the best haunted house for any horror fan. You are put into scenes from the movies and have a chance to interact (if you can call running away from 'interacting') with some of the greats. My personal favorite is the guy in the Saw room. Man, I would have helped you escape, but I saw how the movie ended and didn't want to be Jigsaws next victim. Who will be in Slaughterhouse next year??
